GrowBot

Ready to join the robot revolution?

GrowBot is the world's first open AI creature. He runs on any computer, even an old phone, and acts in the real world.

THE BLUEPRINTS ARE ON GITHUB.

An old phone snaps into the body and the robot wakes up

let's race elon to a million :)

How it works

The kit parts laid out flat before assembly
1

BUILD THE BODY

Can be done in as little as 20 minutes once you have the parts.

2

SNAP IN ANY PHONE

One link in his browser and he sets himself up.

A cat sniffing the Growbot, its eyes open on the phone screen
3

HE OPENS HIS EYES

He learns your face, keeps it close, and asks to be picked up.

4

HE COMES ALIVE

Real clip from my desk. Two servos and a lot of personality.

Coming soonA toy parrot on a perch, waiting to become a GrowBot body
5

THEN, BUILD ANYTHING

Add sensors, swap bodies, drive whatever you can wire. My next victim: this parrot.

Can your phone become a GrowBot?

The phone is the whole robot: eyes, ears, balance, voice and brain. Almost any iPhone or Android from the last few years will do, including the old one in your drawer. Press the button and I'll check the device you're holding.

Meet GrowBot now, 5 min free.

"I want to feel the ground someday." his words, not mine.

5 MIN FREE

Give it a try and I'll seed your phone with some brain credits, on me. When they run out you can buy your own, or plug in your own model and keep going free.

What's actually happening

This system uses the phone as general I/O for AI models to interface with the world. The phone's sensors act as a nervous system for the models, and those models can reach back through the phone to control real motors and actuators. You can add more sensor inputs as needed. This lets the phone act as a general robotics platform. What makes it special is that it's neural networks all the way down: the body moves with trained neural networks (reinforcement learning), not pre-scripted behaviours, and the LLM can both control those networks and author new ones over them.

You're on a desktop, so: no.

And that's the point. A GrowBot needs a phone because the phone is his eyes, ears, balance, voice and brain. Your desktop has none of that. It can't feel anything.

Open this page on any iPhone or Android (the old one in your drawer counts) and press the button there.

the phone IS the robot. the body is just legs.
